Tempel Farms Organics seeks seasonal employees who are interested in farming sustainably. Come and be a part of our team!
Individuals with some farming background are a definite plus.
We market through a 200 member CSA, 1 Chicago farmer's market, an onsite farm stand and a few wholesale and restaurant accounts.
COMMITMENT:
Full time commitment (40-50 hours) Roughly, May 1st - October 31st. Earlier and later start dates can be worked out. An average work week is 5 days a week Tuesday - Saturday with 1 additional Sunday per month. We are a 7 day a week working farm so work and hours will change according to the needs of the farm. Our day begins at 7am and ends usually at 5pm with 1 hour for lunch.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Individuals with some farming background is beneficial but not required.
- Must possess a very strong work ethic, be responsible and punctual.
- Farm work is a hands on, physical job. Individuals must be able to lift at least 50 pounds repeatedly, be able to kneel, bend or squat for various planting, harvesting, feeding work.
- Individuals with great verbal communication skills, are able to listen and follow directions and work in a timely manner.
- • Many tasks on the farm are done by 2 or more people, a good sense of humor and ability to work well with others is required.
- Enjoy working with your hands outdoors in all types of weather.
DUTIES:
Duties will change through out the season but will include: greenhouse seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, post harvest handling, packing CSA boxes, record keeping, cutting flowers & making bouquets, moving chicken pens, feeding & watering chickens, pigs and goats, collecting and cleaning eggs, maintaining cleanliness of the farm, selling at farmer's markets and participating in our on farm CSA pick up, tours and other events and lots of odd jobs.

Pay:
Hourly wage depending upon experience.
Housing:
On farm housing may be available.
